Before Sharpsburg

A 32 year old shoemaker in New Orleans, he enlisted as Private, Company G, 10th Louisiana Infantry on 22 July 1861.

On the Campaign

He was wounded and captured in action at Sharpsburg on 17 September 1862.

The rest of the War

He was treated at a US Army hospital in Frederick, MD then transferred to the hospital at Fort McHenry in Baltimore, MD. He was paroled there on 13 October 1862 and exchanged at Aiken's Landing, VA on 10 November 1862. He was reported missing in action at Gettysburg, PA in July 1863. He was captured at a hospital in Richmond, VA on 3 April 1865 and held in Libby Prison in Richmond to 23 April, then sent to Newport News, VA. He was released on taking the oath of allegiance on 16 June 1865.
