Before Sharpsburg
A 25 year old laborer in New Orleans, he enlisted as Private, Company G, 10th Louisiana Infantry on 22 July 1861 at Camp Moore, LA.
On the Campaign
He was captured in action at Sharpsburg on 17 September 1862.
The rest of the War
He was exchanged at Aiken's Landing, VA on 10 November 1862. He was wounded by gunshot to his left foot and captured at Gettysburg, PA on 4 July 1863, then treated at De Camp General Hospital, Devil's Island, NY from 24 July. He was exchanged at City Point, VA on 28 October 1863 and was afterward absent on account of his wound; listed as disabled.
