He enlisted at Seguin, TX as a Private in Company D, 4th Texas Infantry on 20 March 1862.

On the Campaign

He was in action with his Company at Fox's Gap on South Mountain on 14 September was wounded in action at Sharpsburg on 17 September 1862.

The rest of the War

He was promoted to 4th Corporal by November 1862, but was often absent from his Company, sick. He died of disease - "ulcers with sloughing - on 10 October 1863 at the South Carolina Hospital in Petersburg, VA.
