He was wounded in action at Sharpsburg on 17 September 1862.

The rest of the War

He was captured at Winchester, VA on 19 September 1864. He was in prison at Point Lookout, MD by 26 September. He was paroled on 17 January 1865 and exchanged 21 January at Boulware's Wharf, James River, VA.
