Before Sharpsburg
A 28 year old laborer in New Orleans, he enlisted as Private, Company H, 10th Louisiana Infantry 22 July 1861 at Camp Moore, LA.
On the Campaign
He was wounded by gunshot to his right leg and captured in action at Sharpsburg on 17 September 1862.
The rest of the War
He lost his right leg to amputation. He was treated at the US Army General Hospital #2 in Frederick, MD and transferred to Fort McHenry on 17 October. He was exchanged at Aiken's Landing, VA on 10 November 1862 and then in the First Division, 3rd Army Corps Hospital (probably in Richmond, VA). HE was disabled for further service.
