From Meriwether County, GA, he enlisted on 26 August 1861 as Private, Company B, 2nd Georgia Infantry. On 2 May 1862 he transferred to Company F, 2nd Florida Infantry. He was wounded in action at Gaines' Farm, VA on 27 June 1862.

On the Campaign

He was killed in action at Sharpsburg on 17 September 1862.
