A married 23 year old farmer in Newton, AL, he mustered as Private, Company H, 15th Alabama Infantry on 10 March 1862 in Abbeville. He was absent, sick May - July but rejoined his Company in time to see action at Cedar Mountain, VA on 9 August 1862.

On the Campaign

He was killed in action at Sharpsburg on 17 September 1862.
