An unmarried 18 year old farmer in Newton, AL, he mustered as 3rd Corporal, Company H, 15th Alabama Infantry on 3 July 1861 in Glennville, AL. He was reduced to Private on 10 May 1862.
On the Campaign
He was mortally wounded in action at Sharpsburg on 17 September 1862.
The rest of the War
He died of wounds, place not given, on 4 November 1862.
