An unmarried 24 year old farmer, he mustered as Private, Company G, 15th Alabama Infantry on 3 July 1861 in Abbeville, AL. He was promoted to Corporal on 10 January 1862.

On the Campaign

He was mortally wounded in the face and jaw in action at Sharpsburg on 17 September 1862.

The rest of the War

He died of wounds in Staunton, VA on 11 October 1862.
