Before Antietam

In 1860 he was a 21 year old moulder in East Bridgewater, MA. He enlisted there on 18 May 1861 and mustered on 22 May as a Private in Company L, 4th Massachusetts Infantry, which became C, 29th Massachusetts Infantry. He was promoted to Corporal on 1 November 1861.

On the Campaign

He was mortally wounded in action at Antietam on 17 September 1862 and died the following day.
