Before Antietam

In 1860 he was a 20 year old cordwainer (shoemaker) and lived with his parents in Lynn, MA. He enlisted there on 19 April 1861 and mustered on 14 May as a Private in the company which later became Company I of the 29th Massachusetts Infantry.

On the Campaign

He was mortally wounded in action at Antietam on 17 September 1862.

The rest of the War

He died of wounds on 20 September 1862, place not given.
