Before Sharpsburg

He enlisted at Waco, TX as a Private in Company E, 4th Texas Infantry on 13 July 1861.

On the Campaign

He was in action with his Company at Fox's Gap on South Mountain on 14 September and was mortally wounded by a gunshot to his right thigh in action at Sharpsburg on 17 September 1862, and captured there.

The rest of the War

He was paroled at Sharpsburg on 27 September, briefly in US Army General Hospital #5 in Frederick, MD on 15 and 16 October, then sent to Fort McHenry in Baltimore on the way to Fortress Monroe, VA for exchange. He was admitted to Chimborazo Hospital #4 in Richmond, VA on 24 October but died there of gangrene on 1 December 1862.
