He was killed in action at Antietam on 17 September 1862 and was buried on the battlefield.

His service from the Record of Service,1 which has him as Henry A. T. Meyer or Myer. His memorial is on Findagrave; he may be in Antietam National Cemetery, but is not among the named burials there. His birth information and full name from an announcement in the Lansing State Republican of 8 October 1862.
