Before Antietam

From Winchester, CT, he enlisted on 23 April 1861 and mustered as Private, Company F, 2nd Connecticut Infnatry on 7 May. He mustered out with his Company on 7 August 1861 in New Haven. On 25 October he mustered as Sergeant, Company E, 11th Connecticut Infantry. He was appointed First Sergeant on 16 June 1862.

On the Campaign

He was killed in action at Antietam on 17 September 1862.
