From Vermillion County, IN, he mustered as Private, Company I, 14th Indiana Infantry on 7 June 1861.

On the Campaign

He was admitted to a US Army hospital in Frederick, MD on 23 November 1862 for chronic diarrhea and died there on 4 December.
