He enlisted as a Private in Company F, 4th Texas Infantry on 2 April 1862 in San Antonio.

On the Campaign

He was with his Company in action at Fox's Gap on South Mountain on 14 September and was mortally wounded in action at Sharpsburg on 17 September 1862, left on the field, and captured.

The rest of the War

He was treated in a US field hospital on the J.C. Grove farm near Sharpsburg, but died there of wounds on 24 September 1862.
