Before Sharpsburg
He mustered as Private in Company I, First Texas Infantry on 24 June 1861 in New Orleans. He was assigned as a teamster to the Texas Brigade wagon train in Summer 1862.
On the Campaign
He was captured near Williamsport, MD on 15 September 1862, probably part of Longstreet's reserve ammunition train taken by the Federal cavalry detachment that had broken out of Harpers Ferry the night before.
The rest of the War
He was exchanged, date not given. He was wounded in action at Chickamauga, GA on 19 September 1863. He was paroled at Appomattox Court House, VA on 12 April 1865.
