J. Augustus Johnson

He enlisted as Private, Company K, 6th Georgia Infantry on 2 March 1862 in Atlanta.

He was killed in action at Sharpsburg on 17 September 1862.

Thanks to Barry Truluck for the pointer to Johnson and for his research in his Compiled Service Records (via Fold3), Confederate Necrology in Memoriam in the Southern Watchman of 28 January 1863 (republished in the Georgia Historical Quarterly, Volume 16, Number 4, December 1932), and a casualty list in the Southern Recorder (Milledgeville, GA) of 21 October 1862.
