He enlisted in Company M, First Texas Infantry when they organized in Trinity County, and mustered for Confederate service as Private on 5 May 1862 at Sumpter, TX.
On the Campaign
He was captured near Middletown, MD on 15 September 1862.
The rest of the War
He was held at Fort Delaware and then exchanged and returned to duty, dates not given. He was paroled at Appomattox Court House, VA on 12 April 1865.
