He enlisted as a Private in Company F, 4th Texas Infantry on 23 March 1862 in San Antonio.

On the Campaign

He was with his Company in action on South Mountain on 14 September and at Sharpsburg on 17 September 1862.

The rest of the War

He was appointed 3rd Corporal on 22 November 1862 and 2nd Corporal on 20 May 1863, but was killed, probably by "friendly fire," in the assault on Little Round Top at Gettysburg, PA on 2 July 1863.
