George Pierce Dozier

From Oglethorpe County, he enlisted in Company K, 6th Georgia Infantry on 1 December 1861 at Yorktown, VA.

He was killed in action at Sharpsburg on 17 September 1862 at age 19.

Service information from Henderson1 and his Compiled Service Records, online from fold3, who have no record for him after the roll of 31 August 1862. His death and age from a family bible and his picture from an ambrotype at the Keenan Research Center, Atlanta History Center, both published in the Atlanta Historical Society's Neat Pieces: The Plain-style Furniture of Nineteenth-century Georgia (2006). A collection of 4 of his wartime letters are in the Georgia Archives in UDC Bound Typescripts, Vol. 6, pp. 371-383.
