From Oglethorpe County, he enlisted as Private, Company K, 6th Georgia Infantry on 22 August 1861 at Yorktown, VA.

On the Campaign

He was wounded in action at Sharpsburg on 17 September 1862.

The rest of the War

He was hospitalized in Richmond, VA on 25 September and returned to duty, date not known. He was present for duty through at least 30 April 1864, the last muster roll on record. He was admitted to a hospital in Greensboro, NC on 4 March 1865 for a gunshot wound in the glutei.

After the War

He returned to Oglethorpe Country.
