From Oglethorpe County, he enlisted as Private, Company K, 6th Georgia Infantry on 13 June 1861.

On the Campaign

He was wounded in action at Sharpsburg on 17 September 1862.

The rest of the War

He was commissioned Junior 2nd Lieutenant on 11 January 1863. He was mortally wounded in action on the Weldon Railroad near Petersburg, VA on about 21 August 1864 and was captured. His leg was amputated but he died of his wounds on 17 September 1864, place not given.
