On the Campaign

He was wounded by gunshot to the leg and captured in action at Sharpsburg on 17 September 1862.

The rest of the War

He was treated at a US Army hospital in Frederick, MD from 20 November to 5 December 1862, then turned over to the Federal Provost Marshal (probably for parole and exchange).

After the War

He was discharged in December 1862.

Service from the Alabama Database 1. Wound and hospital details from the Patient List,2 which has him as John Hueth. He is probably the John Huett (1840-1915) buried [via Findagrave] in Shiloh Baptist Church Cemetery, Chilton County, AL.
