From Armada, age 21, he enlisted as Private, Company L, 1st Michigan Cavalry on 16 August 1861.

He was captured in Maryland, place not given, on about 15 September 1862 and paroled.

The rest of the War

He mustered out at the expiration of his term of service on 22 August 1864, but died on 18 September 1864, place not given.
