Age 27, he enlisted as Private, Company E, 2nd Mississippi Infantry, date not known. He was on the Confederate Roll of Honor (CSA General Orders No. 87, 10 December 1864) for bravery at Seven Pines, VA on 31 May 1862 as Sergeant. He was listed as 3rd Corporal at the July/August muster.

On the Campaign

He was killed in action at Sharpsburg on 17 September 1862.
