William Spencer Allen

He enlisted as Private, Company E, 2nd Mississippi Infantry, date not given, and was promoted to 4th Sergeant on 21 August 1861. He was elected First Lieutenant on 17 April 1862.

He was wounded in the left leg in action at Sharpsburg on 17 September 1862.

His leg was amputated at the thigh and he was treated at a hospital in Richmond, VA until furloughed home to Lagrange, GA. He was promoted to Captain on 1 November 1862 but probably never rejoined his Company. He was retired to the Invalid Corps 19 May 1864 due to his Sharpsburg wound. He was paroled at Meridian, MS on 15 May 1865.

His service from a casualty list/roster for the Campaign provided by Michael Brasher, from his research in Compiled Service Records, Company rolls, and other period sources, and Dunbar Rowland's The Official and Statistical Register of the State of Mississippi (1908), also as Allen Williams. His gravesite is on Findagrave.
