A 20 year old farmer, he enlisted as Private, Company G, 2nd Mississippi Infantry in September 1861.
On the Campaign
He was wounded in action at Fox's Gap on South Mountain on 14 September or at Sharpsburg on 17 September 1862.
The rest of the War
He was furloughed and returned to duty on 20 November 1862. He was wounded again, place not given, in February 1865, was hospitalized in Richmond by 24 February, and was home on furlough at the end of the war.
