Before Sharpsburg
He came to Robertson County, TX from Tippah County, MS with his family sometime after his father's death in 1853. He enlisted at Anderson in Grimes County, TX as a Private in Company G, 4th Texas Infantry on 19 July 1861.
On the Campaign
He was in action with his Company at Fox's Gap on South Mountain on 14 September and at Sharpsburg on 17 September 1862.
The rest of the War
He was appointed 4th Corporal on 4 February 1863 and was captured at Gettysburg, PA on 2 July 1863. He was held at Fort Delaware and was released on 9 June 1865 after taking an oath of allegiance.
After the War
He was a farmer at Franklin in Robertson County to at least 1900.
