He enlisted as a Private in Company H, 11th Mississippi Infantry on 25 April 1861 in Houston, MS.
On the Campaign
He was killed in action at Sharpsburg on 17 September 1862.
The rest of the War
He was originally buried "in Benj. Grave's [Grove] young orchard on left hand side of road to Shepherdstown" near the battlefield at Sharpsburg. Probably reinterred at Hagerstown in about 1874.
