Before Sharpsburg
In 1860 he founded and was owner and editor of the Democratic Star in Holly Springs, MS. He enlisted as Private, Company B, 17th Mississippi Infantry at Corinth on 27 May 1861.
On the Campaign
He was with his Company on the Maryland Campaign, in action at Harpers Ferry and Sharpsburg.
The rest of the War
In December he was detailed to General Barksdale'S Brigade staff, but was killed at Frederickburg, VA on 3 May 1863.
