Before Sharpsburg
From Sumterville, AL, he enrolled about 1 April 1861 in the Lauderdale Zouaves - Company G, 13th Mississippi Infantry and was appointed First Lieutenant. The Company was renamed "F" in 1862.
On the Campaign
He was killed in action at Sharpsburg on 17 September.
The rest of the War
He was originally buried "In Mrs. Lucker's [Locker] second field south of barn on west side of a Large rockbrake" on the battlefield at Sharpsburg and probably reinterred at Hagerstown in about 1874.
