Before Sharpsburg
A 27 year old blacksmith on Franklin, VA (now WV), he enlisted as Private, Company K, 25th Virginia Infantry on 18 May 1861 in Franklin. He went absent without leave on 28 February 1862 and returned on 7 March. He was wounded in action at Cross Keys, VA on 8 June 1862.
On the Campaign
He was mortally wounded in action at Sharpsburg on 17 September 1862
The rest of the War
He was hospitalized in Richmond by 28 November 1862 and died there on 16 February 1863.
