A 26 year old mechanic, he enlisted at Natchez on 25 May 1861 and mustered as a Private in Company I, 16th Mississippi Infantry at Corinth on 1 June 1861.

On the Campaign

He was mortally wounded by gunshot to his leg in action at Sharpsburg on 17 September 1862.

The rest of the War

He died of his wound on 16 October 1862, probably in Charles Town, VA (now WV). His widow Elizabeth filed for his final pay of $135.86 in February 1863.
