Before Sharpsburg

A married 26 year old farmer from Jacinto, he enlisted as Private, Company A, 2nd Mississippi Infantry on 1 March 1862.

On the Campaign

He was captured in action on South Mountain, MD on 14 September 1862.

The rest of the War

He was paroled to Aiken's Landing, VA on 2 October, then exchanged on 10 November 1862 and returned to duty. He was wounded in the right arm at Gettysburg, PA on 1 July 1863 and captured there on 5 July. He was treated at the DeCamp General Hospital in NY Harbor and paroled at City Point, VA on 16 September 1863. He was furloughed but failed to return to duty and was dropped from the rolls, listed as a deserter on 31 December 1864.
