He was captured in action on South Mountain on 14 September 1862.
The rest of the War
He was held at Fort Delaware, paroled at Aiken's Landing, VA on 2 October, and exchanged on 10 November 1862. He was wounded at the WIlderness, VA in May 1864 and furloughed. He returned to duty but was captured at the Brigade hospital in Richmond, VA on 3 April 1865. He died while a prisoner at Point Lookout, MD on 8 May 1865 and was buried there.
