Age 20, he enlisted as Private, Company B, 2nd Mississippi Infantry, date not given. He transferred to Company L on 30 April.

On the Campaign

He was mortally wounded in the shoulder in action at Sharpsburg on 17 September 1862.

The rest of the War

He was treated at a hospital in Winchester, VA, then on to Stanton, VA where he died of his wound on 10 November 1862.
