He came to Mississippi from South Carolina in about 1842. He enlisted as Private, Company C, 2nd Mississippi Infantry, date not given.

On the Campaign

He was wounded in action at Sharpsburg on 17 September 1862.

The rest of the War

He was treated at a a hospital in Lynchburg, VA and returned to duty. He was wounded again, in the Wilderness, VA on 5 May 1864 and was again back with his Company. He was treated for a wound (place not given) on 27 September 1864 and furloughed for 60 days beginning 7 October. He was listed as absent without leave by February 1865.
