William M. Combs

A 19 year old student, he enlisted as Private, Company G, 2nd Mississippi Infantry, date not given. He was wounded at Seven Pines, VA on 31 May 1862.

He was wounded in action at Sharpsburg on 17 September 1862.

He was furloughed and returned to his Company on 20 April 1863. He was captured at Falling Waters, MD on 14 July 1863 on the return from Gettysburg and held at Point Lookout, MD. He was exchanged on 10 February 1865.

His older brother James Washington Combs (1839-1911) was Lieutenant of Company G all the way to Appomattox in 1865.
