Before Sharpsburg

A 25 year old farmer in Pontotoc County, he enlisted as Private, Company H, 2nd Mississippi Infantry on 29 April 1861. He was promoted to 4th Corporal on 22 April 1862 and to 4th Sergeant on 1 August.

On the Campaign

He was wounded in action at Sharpsburg on 17 September 1862.

The rest of the War

He was mortally wounded at the Wilderness, VA on 5 May 1864 and died of wounds 2 days later.
