A 19 year old farmer, he enlisted as Private, Company I, 2nd Mississippi Infantry, date not known. He was appointed 4th Corporal by March then 2nd Corporal on 23 April 1862.

On the Campaign

He was killed in action at Sharpsburg on 17 September 1862 and was later listed on the Confederate Roll of Honor for his bravery there.
