Before Sharpsburg
A 20 year old farmer in Pontotoc County, he enlisted as Private, Company I, 2nd Mississippi Infantry on 1 May 1861.
On the Campaign
He was wounded in action at Sharpsburg on 17 September 1862.
The rest of the War
He was furloughed then returned to duty. He was captured at Gettysburg, PA on 3 July 1863 and was a prisoner at Fort Delaware, where he died of pneumonia on 17 (or 16) April 1865.
