A 21 year old farmer, he enlisted in Cherry Creek, MS on on 30 April 1861 as Private, Company I, 2nd Mississippi Infantry.

On the Campaign

He was killed in action at Sharpsburg on 17 September 1862. The muster roll for September and October 1862 says he was wounded and left on the field.

His service from a casualty list/roster for the Campaign provided by Michael Brasher, from his research in the Compiled Service Records, Company rolls, and other period sources. His memorial is on Findagrave; his burial at Hagerstown is possible (as an "unknown") but he does not appear on the original Bowie List or the more recent Consolidated List of possible burials in Washington Confederate Cemetery, Hagerstown, MD.
