He was wounded in action at Sharpsburg on 17 September 1862.
The rest of the War
He was furloughed and returned to duty, but deserted to the enemy from a picket line on 5 May, year not known. He took a Federal oath of amnesty on 8 January 1865 at City Point, VA and was furnished transportation to Indianapolis, IN.
