A 20 year old plasterer, he enlisted in Company K, 2nd Mississippi Infantry, date not known.

On the Campaign

He was wounded in action at Sharpsburg on 17 September 1862.

The rest of the War

He was furloughed and returned to duty, but deserted to the enemy from a picket line on 5 May, year not known. He took a Federal oath of amnesty on 8 January 1865 at City Point, VA and was furnished transportation to Indianapolis, IN.
