Before Sharpsburg

He enlisted in Grimes County as a Private in Company G, 4th Texas Infantry on 19 July 1861 and was slightly wounded in the leg at Gaines' Mill, VA on 27 June 1862.

On the Campaign

He was with his Company in action on South Mountain on 14 September, but absent at Sharpsburg on 17 September 1862.

The rest of the War

He transferred to Company E, 5th Alabama Infantry on 18 March 1863. He was captured at Gettysburg, PA on 2 July 1863, briefly at Fort McHenry in Baltimore, then sent to Fort Delaware on 7 July 1863. He was released on 14 June 1865 after taking an oath of allegiance.
