Before Sharpsburg

A 36 year old seaman from Baltimore, MD, he enlisted as Private, Company L, 2nd Mississippi Infantry on 13 July 1862, as a substitute for Pvt. Bynum, Company A. He was appointed 3rd Corporal on 1 September 1862.

On the Campaign

He was probably wounded in action at Sharpsburg on 17 September 1862.

The rest of the War

He was captured at Gettysburg, PA on 1 July 1863 and imprisoned at Fort Delaware. He was paroled on 30 October 1864 and exchanged on 12 November 1864 at Savannah, GA. He was furloughed for 30 days and returned to duty on 23 December 1864. He was captured at Hatcher's Run, VA on 2 April 1865, held at Point Lookout, MD and released on 15 June 1865 after taking the oath of allegiance.
