A 21 year old clerk in Tippah County, he enlisted on 1 May 1861 as Private, Company B, 2nd Mississippi Infantry. He was appointed 4th Sergeant, date not given. He was wounded at 2nd Manassas, VA in August 1862.
On the Campaign
He is on the Confederate Roll of Honor (CSA General Orders No. 87, 10 December 1864) for bravery at "Boonsborough" (Fox's Gap on South Mountain), MD on 14 September 1862.
The rest of the War
He was killed at Gettysburg, PA on 1 July 1863.
