He is on the Confederate Roll of Honor (CSA General Orders No. 87, 10 December 1864) for bravery at "Boonsborough" (Fox's Gap on South Mountain), MD on 14 September.

The rest of the War

He was killed in action at Gettysburg on 3 July 1863.
