From Williamsburg County, SC, he enlisted on 15 September 1861 as Private in Company K, 6th South Carolina Infantry. He was slightly wounded on the Seven Days battles in Virginia in June 1862.
On the Campaign
He was mortally wounded in action on South Mountain, MD on 14 September.
The rest of the War
He died of wounds on 27 September 1862.
