He enlisted on 21 July 1861 in Marlboro County, SC as Private, Company K, 6th South Carolina Infantry.
On the Campaign
He was ill on the Campaign and left behind in Frederick, MD on 10 September 1862. He was captured by Federal troops there about 13 September.
The rest of the War
He was transferred to the post hospital at Fort McHenry in Baltimore, MD and paroled on 1 October, but died there on 9 October 1862.
